Ingredients
Filling:
8 medium apples (peeled and chopped)
½ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
¼ tsp salt
Topping:
¾ cup flour
¾ cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
½ cup cold cubed butter
1 cup rolled oats
Optional:
Chopped nuts
Salted caramel drizzle
Vanilla ice cream
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 baking dish.
2. Peel and chop apples, then mix with brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and salt.
3. Pour apple mixture into prepared dish.
4. In a bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
5. Cut cold butter into the mixture until crumbly.
6. Stir in oats and combine well.
7. Spread topping evenly over apples.
8. Bake for 45 minutes until golden and bubbling.
9. Cool briefly before serving with ice cream or caramel.
Notes
