Description
Easy and creamy one-skillet cream cheese chicken ready in 30 minutes. Savory garlic-herb flavor, comforting, and perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 medium sweet onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
3/4 cup chicken broth
8 oz cream cheese (softened)
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
Fresh chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
1. Slice chicken breasts lengthwise into 4 cutlets. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
2. Melt butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
3. Add chicken and sear for 5–6 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through (165°F).
4. Remove chicken and set aside on a plate.
5. Lower heat to medium, then sauté onion for 5–7 minutes until soft and golden.
6. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
7. Add chicken broth, cream cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir until smooth and creamy.
8. Return chicken to skillet and simmer for a few minutes to heat through.
9. Thin sauce with extra broth if needed. Top with parsley if desired.
10. Serve warm over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.
Notes
Make sure the cream cheese is very soft before adding to the skillet — this helps it melt faster and smoother.
Cutting chicken into thinner cutlets ensures quicker, more even cooking.
Not freezer-friendly due to the cream-based sauce, but keeps well in the fridge for 3–4 days.
