Description
Classic apple crisp with buttery oat crumble and warm cinnamon-spiced apples. A cozy dessert ready in under an hour, perfect with vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
6 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji), peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until evenly coated, then spread the mixture in the baking dish.
3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, oats, and salt.
4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender, fingers, or forks until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
5. Sprinkle evenly over the apples.
6. Bake for 35–45 minutes until the top is golden and the apples are soft.
7. Let rest 10–15 minutes before serving.
Notes
Try adding a pinch of cloves or allspice to enhance flavor.
Use cold butter for a crispier topping.
Cover leftovers and refrigerate for up to 3–4 days.
Reheat in the oven or microwave for best texture.
